Nesting

Co-directed by Louis Cherry + Marsha Gordon

Photography, Louis Cherry

Archival Research, Marsha Gordon

Narrator, Frank Harmon

Trying to find comfort and inspiration during the difficult spring of 2020, we turned the camera on a pair of robins nesting in the bamboo in our back yard.  Observing the way the robins work tirelessly to usher their offspring from egg to helpless chicks and then out of the nest and into the world, we were reminded of the ways that nature keeps going despite so many obstacles.  This 15 minute documentary is accompanied by narration drawn from small-town historical American newspaper stories from the 1870s to the 1950s about the relationship between people and robins.
